The Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round, Scarborough, announces booking is open for Alan Ayckbourn's new play Private Fears In Public Places.
Late Summer 1993
Alan begins writing Private Fears In Public Places, but the play does not come together. A second idea - probably a non-musical A Word From Our Sponsor - also also abandoned. Alan advises the theatre a revival may need to be staged before he has the idea for Communicating Doors.

Communicating Doors opens at the Merle Reskin Theatre, Chicago, directed by Alan Ayckbourn. This production is part of the International Theatre Festival Of Chicago and features the original Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round company.

Communicating Doors opens at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, directed by Alan Ayckbourn. This production will go on a short tour before transferring to the West End in August.
